Materials: Four 1-ounce balls Bear Brand Babyfair or Pompadour. One ball Bucilla Crochelle. Bone Hook #2.

Sacque:
Row 1. Ch 68, dc in 4th st from hook, dc in each of next 9, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next (corner), dc in next 10, corner, dc in 20, corner, dc in 10, corner, dc in 11, turn.
Row 2. Sl st to top of second dc, ch 3, dc back in first dc, sk 1 dc, dc in skipped st (X st made), repeat 4 times, corner as follows: * sk 1 ch, dc in next, dc in ch just skipped, ch 3, dc in next ch, dc in same st as first dc (center st of ch 3) *, make 6 X's over shoulder, repeat * to * corner above, 11 X's, corner, 6 X's, corner, 6 X's, ch 3, turn.
Row 3. 13 dc, corner as follows. * dc in first ch st, (dc, ch 3, dc) in center st of ch, dc in last ch st *, 16 dc, corner * to * as before, 26 dc, corner, 16 dc, corner, 14 dc, ch 3, turn.
Rows 4 and 6. Same as Row 2, increasing at corners in same manner.
Rows 5 and 7. Same as Row 3. (There should always be an even number of dc on each section).
Row 8. Sc in each dc, sc in first ch st, 3 sc in next ch st, sc in next, etc., around, catching corners of yoke together under arm with second sc of each 3 sc group.
Row 9. Ch 7, yo, insert hook in third st of ch, draw up lp, yo, sk 1 dc, insert hook in next dc, draw up lp, yo and work off 2 lps at a time (4 times), * yo twice, draw up lp in same dc as last st, yo and through 2 lps, yo, sk 1 dc, draw up lp in next (5 lps on hook), yo and work off 2 lps at a time (4 times), ch 2, dc in center of cross st, completing the cross (this is called crest st) *, repeat across (54 crest sts), ch 3, turn.
Row 10. Dc in every st across.
Row 11. Same as Row 9, except sk 2 dc between base sts of crest st.
Row 12 and all dc rows same as Row 10.
Rows 13, 15, 17: Same as Row 11, except make first st of each row crest st in next dc, instead of in same st as last.
Row 19. Same as Row 11. End with dc row. Fasten off.
Sleeve. Join yarn at underarm.
Row 1. Same as Row 9 above (22 crest sts).
Row 2. Dc in each st.
Row 3. Same as Row 13 above. Repeat sleeve Rows 2 and 3 four times.
Cuff. Row 1. Sc in first, sk 2, sc in next, etc. (About 32 sts).
Row 2. Dc in each sc.
Row 3. Same as Row 2 of yoke.
Row 4. Dc in each st. Fasten off.
Bonnet. Row 1. Ch 5, join in ring, ch 3 for first dc, 19 more dc in ring, join.
Row 2. Ch 4, dc in dc preceding the ch (to make X st), * sk 1 dc, dc in next, ch 1, dc in skipped st *, repeat around (10 X's).
Row 3. Ch 3, 2 dc under ch 1, dc in each dc around (40 dc).
Rows 4, 6, & 8. Same as Row 2.
Row 5. Dc in each dc, 1 dc under ch 1, repeat around.
Row 7. Dc in each dc, sk ch 1, repeat.
Row 9. Same as Row 5, turn.
Row 10. (See row 11 of sacque). Make 25 crest sts, ch 3, turn.
Row 11. Dc in each st across.
Rows 12, 14, & 16. Same as Row 13 of sacque.
Rows 13, 15, & 17. Same as Row 11 above.
Flare. Fold the 3 front rows under (with front of bonnet toward you), join yarn at lower left side of bonnet, make first row of crest st with 2 dc between base sts, and making first st of next crest st in same st as last st of preceding crest st. Make 1 row of dc in each st, and 1 row of crest st same as Row 9 of sacque. Sc along neckline of bonnet, drawing to shape by skipping occasional stitches.
Edge bonnet and sacque with Bucilla Crochelle in matching or contrasting color, ch 3, sl st in next, etc. Finish with ribbons of same trimming color.
