Sacque: Begin at lower edge.
Row 1. Ch 154, (sc and dc) in second st, ch 1, sk 2, * (sc and dc) in next, ch 1, sk 2 *, repeat across. (51 groups). Ch 1, turn.
Row 2. (Sc and dc) in first dc, * ch 1, (sc and dc) in next dc *, repeat across, ch 1, turn. (This is pattern row.) Work in pattern for 29 rows or until work measures 6 inches. Work over 12 patterns for 10 rows, drop off 3 gr at center front, work over 9 gr for 1 1/2 inches, sl st over 4 gr at shoulder edge and work over 5 gr in pattern. Fasten off. Work other front to match. Sk 2 gr at underarm, join yarn and work over 23 gr until work measures 3 1/2 inches above armhole. Sew shoulder seams.
Sleeve: Ch 62. Work even in pattern (20 gr) for 5 inches, ch 3 at end of last row, (sc and dc) in second st from hook (inc made). Ch 1, work across in pattern, end (sc and dc) in ch 1 turning ch (another inc). Work 2 rows even. For next row, sl st over 2 gr, pattern over 18 gr, sc in next dc, ch 1, turn. Dec in this manner 1 gr at each end of each row until 4 gr remain. Fasten off. Sew sleeve seams, and sew into armhole with seam in center of 2 skipped groups.
Border: Sc around entire sacque, inc at outside corners by making 3 sc in one st, and dec at inside corner at neck by skipping 1 st. Make 3 rows sc, and add one row of pattern gr with sk 1 between. Fasten off. Make cuffs same.
Bonnet.
Begin at front edge. Ch 111, work in pattern until work measures 6 inches (37 gr), then work over center 11 groups for 5 1/2 inches more for back of bonnet. Sew seams at side back. Sc closely across neckline to draw to shape, skipping stitches as necessary.
(Note: In order to keep the sc border same as that of sacque, it will be necessary to break yarn at end of each row, and start from same end of work each time). Complete border on turnback at front as for sacque. See note above.
Bootee. Begin with sole: Ch 20.
Row 1. 2 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 15, 5 dc in next, 1 dc in each of next 15 down opposite side of ch, 2 dc in last, join to top of 3 ch.
Row 2. Ch 3, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in each of next 13, 2 dc in each of next 7, 1 dc in each of next 13, 2 dc in each of next 3, 1 dc in same st as 3 ch, join.
Row 3. Ch 3, (1 dc in next, 2 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in each of next 14, (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 7 times, 1 dc in each of next 13. (2 dc in next, 1 dc in next) 3 times, 1 dc in same st as 3 ch, join.
Row 4. Sc around the spoke of each dc, inserting hook from back, right to left, join. Make 8 or 9 rows of sc even, or until side of shoe measures 1 inch. Fasten off.
Instep: Row 1. Beginning with first st to left of center back, count on left side of shoe to 27th st. Join yarn in this st, and with toe of shoe toward you, draw lp in same st. Retaining all lps on hook, draw up lp in each of next 12. (13 lps). Work off as follows: yo through 1, * yo, through 2 *, repeat across. The lp left on hook is always first st of next row.
Row 2. Insert hook under second vertical bar, draw up lp. Retaining all lps on hook, draw up lp in each vertical bar except last. Now insert hook through last vertical bar and st directly behind it and draw up lp (13 lps). Work off as for Row 1. Make 6 more rows in same manner.
Row 9. Draw up lp under second vertical bar, yo through 2 (sc made). Repeat across, ending with 1 lp on hook.
Fasten instep in shoe as follows: Catch remaining lp on hook into 15th st from center back on right side of shoe and with instep piece toward you, sc it st for st to right side of shoe, 2 sc at corner, sc across toe, inserting hook from right to left under each of the original 13 sts of instep, 2 sc at corner, sc instep and shoe tog along left side, ending in 15th st from center back (do not count 3-ch).
Beading: With toe of shoe facing you, ch 4, * sk 1, dc in next, ch 1 *, repeat across instep, ending in same 15th st where you began joining instep to shoe, ch 1, sk 1, dec dc in next 2 sts, ch 1, repeat * to * (above) 11 times, sk 1, dec dc in next 2, ch 1, join to third st of 4-ch (21 dc, counting 4-ch).
Top: Row 1. Pattern as for sacque, with border as for remainder of set. Embroider as desired, and finish with ribbon ties.
