Ancona Ducks

This is the first pair of ducks that we kept from the spring 2008 hatch.  We also have a group of younger ducks from later in the summer and will be selecting our "keepers" soon.  Our first eggs started arriving in mid-October. 

Ancona ducks are known for excellent egg production.  They are spotted and reputed to travel less to other locations.  We have 2 neighbors with large ponds and didn't want our ducks to move in without invitations.

Ancona ducks currently come with black, brown, blue, silver, and lavender spotting.  There are also tri-color ducks (ones with 2 or more colors in the plumage). 

Ancona ducks are considered a medium-weight duck breed and are wonderful little guys.
