Remodeling Project:  Laundry and Kitchen

Mary Ellen Hansson, ISeeSpots Farm

I have been asked to keep you posted on the remodeling updates.  These are pictures of the progress and changes that have been wrought during the months of July and early August.

This is the 5 foot long counter that was built in the laundry room in front of washer/dryer.  We still have to get the pulls and knobs on the cabinets, but all else is done.
Here is a picture of the laundry room sink and cabinet.  Check out my first attempt at tiling a wall!  The picture of the sunset was taken in 1988 off the bridge at Smogen Sweden.

The sheep hold handmade soap from Bill Jones, and the plants are part of an arrangement sent to Per following his mother's passing this summer.

Here is a view from the kitchen towards the laundry room through the "walkway" that ties the dining room and outer room together.  Note the darker grout line---newly grouted this afternoon!  The other grout lines are how the grout will dry when completed.

Per didn't want his picture taken, but look at those legs in the far end of the laundry room....OOPS...Must have caught him anyway.

This is a picture of the floor in front of the sink (to the left of this picture in the kitchen).  Note the floor air vent cover....  Per got me a new one and this was the only one in the size we needed at Home Depot---MUCH prettier in life, as it is golden in color.  Note the dark fresh grout lines in the foreground.
Here is the final picture....A shot of the range and where the bread and cheese mural will be placed over the stove and under the fan.  Note the little decorative line of tiles just under the cabinet behind the fridge.  This line will be double and hem the countertops when I get them done.  I also got 4 quarts of tomatoes canned today---looks like they didn't boil long enough before I jarred them up.
Aug 14-15 weekend work included turning on the water in the laundry room sink.  No drips or leaks....  Then we detected a hole in the stainless steel of the kitchen sink, requiring a new sink.  That will be installed next weekend.  Take a look at the pantry we did a couple weeks back.....
Now comes the countertop.  The cat making himself quite at home on the countertop is the infamous "Sam", the Home Depot Monster.  We still have to finish grouting and cleaning, but this gives a look at what the countertops will be like when the work is complete. (as of Aug 22 weekend, the grouting and sealing were complete and the cat still likes to sit on the counter even more.... :o((.
Weekend of August 22 was spend tiling the remainder of our countertops as well as putting up most of the tile.  We ran out before the job was finished and have not completed the crock mural.

Here is the bread mural over our range.....

Here is the corner to the left of the range....
and here is the crock mural to the left of the sink....or the hole in the countertop that will house the sink when we get the clips to hold the sink onto the countertop......  I will get a much lighter picture when it is done as this makes the whole thing look rather pathetic.....
