The elements of design in this lovely masterpiece are merely 3 traditional Shetland lace motifs.  Instructions are included for a small delicate scarf and for stoles in 3 widths.  All are made in one piece from end to end with edging knitted as you go.
The small scarf can be used as a practice piece before attempting the larger projects if your confidence is a little shaky.  Lace weight yarns are used for these stoles and scarves.  Small scarf is 7 inches wide and 42 inches long.  The widest stole is 25 inches wide and 78 inches long.  Variation in width of stoles runs from 14 to 19.5 to 25 inches.
